Uma Saema

Acupuncturist

Islington

Uma has 13 years of experience as an acupuncturist working in London and supporting patients with a wide range of conditions.

Originally trained in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) style of acupuncture, she has studied further under acupuncture masters Dr. Tan Wu who developed the Balance Method and Dr. Wang Ju Yi, developer of the Applied Channel Theory.

This has deepened her understanding of different communication pathways, metabolic processes and health functions, and how these can be viewed in relation to one another and across the body as a whole. This has enabled her to address imbalance across the whole system and how it relates to the wider environment rather than just treating localised symptoms.

Uma has developed a specialism in Women’s health both through post graduate specialist training and through helping many clients. Uma strongly feels that women’s health is regularly under-appreciated and under-served in mainstream medicine. Women have many unique and complex health concerns, most obviously menstrual cycles, pregnancy and menopause.

There are also a range of particular health issues that are found more commonly in women and some illnesses that affect women quite differently from men. She welcomes the opportunity at Conceive to focus not only on fertility but on all aspects of women’s health.

Uma is also trained in pulse diagnosis, scalp acupuncture, auricular acupuncture and facial acupuncture and facial reflexology, and is currently training in breathwork coaching. Her broad range of skills and understanding gives her a flexibility in her diagnosis and treatment that allows her to tailor treatment to suit each client’s particular needs.

At Conceive she regularly incorporates facial massages and reflexology practices into her treatment plans and intends on incorporating breathwork in the near future.

She is a member of British Acupuncture Council and is a member of the Steering Committee at the Acupuncture for Fertility Network.
